What If You Wanted To Be A Fashion Designer?

I have to change that title to:

What If You Wanted To Be A SUCCESSFUL Fashion Designer?

Well if you are starting from scratch one of the best things that you should do is get some designs created. Once you have designed some clothing take a picture of them and put them online on your own website or blog. As I have said many times before you can get a free website and a free blog.

You also should try to sell your fashion designs on Ebay.

Of course let's not overlook all the things that you can do offline as well.

Design a business card. Design a flyer. Distribute both whenever and where ever you can!

Also I am aware of some grant programs that you should apply for if you are seeking funding to start your fashion design business.

What people don't seem to be aware of is that you have a lot of resources at hand to help you achieve the dreams that you desire.

Instead of complaining what you can't do, be grateful for the things that you CAN do!

I have a Canadian girlfriend who dreamed of going into fashion design. I'm unsure if she played "Fashion Plates" as a young girl or if she made doll clothes. She research design, attended school in Toronto and then in NYC. She went out on a limb, contacted people and created her own glorious opportunties.

Whatever your passions, it makes sense to contact people experienced in your field. You would benefit from seeking advice, asking to help create internships in your industry and even write in publications about your area. The key is to get involved somehow.

Getting your name "out there" in your field is a worthy goal. If its fashion that is your passion, you need to take steps to prove yourself. As you identify what you wish to do, you'll figure out how. You can choose to realize dreams. Set your mind to it. Find ways to make it happen. Watch film like The Devil Wears Prada. The book is also inspiring.
