Many times I have blogged about how you can make money with your blog! I, myself, have earned money from blogging. One of the ways that I have done this is by using Google's Adsense program but there are many, many other ways that you can make money blogging.

First of all thank you for your email!

Well I am a firm believer in taking what you love and turning that into a business but a lot of people don't want to go that way. They are looking for fast and easy ways to make money on the Internet but sometimes those "fast" ways are not the best ways! If you take something that you love to do and are able to sell that online then this is a very good way to start making money online.

A lot of people have found success at using Google's Adsense program to make money online. You can read about how much money some people have made with the Adsense program by clicking here. Basically what the Adsense program is about is that you set up a website or blog, join the Adsense program and then place ads on your site. When visitors to your site click on these ads - that is where you earn money.

Another new thing that I am noticing is that there are a lot of sites that now have job openings for blog writers. I have seen a lot of these sites cropping up now and they list job opportunities for blog writers. Some of the pay is good and - unfortunately - some of it is not!

If you are interested in finding some blog-writing jobs, just do some searching online and you will find lots of links to different sites that are offering this BUT you have to be very careful when you investigate these sites because you want to make sure that these sites are legitmate!

The answer is yes - but I have come to do it the more old-fashioned way. I make money with my blog by using the Google Adsense program, getting advertisers for my blog and I have earned money from my blog because it connects to what I do which is grant research and potential clients have found me via my blogs. If it can happen to me then it could happen for you too! But you are never going to know unless you try! So go ahead and start that blog!

Are There LEGITIMATE Ways To Be Able To Work From Home?

I just got finished reading a post from someone who works from home but they are so discouraged with it because they are not making enough money. I work from home and so do many others who work legitimately from home and they are not doing things like paid surveys and the like!

For instance, I, myself do grant research and consultations from home. There are so many myths about government grant programs that the more informed people are the better! I also have a blog about unclaimed money called The Unclaimed Money Blog. I am also a Dream Job Consultant as well! These are but some of the ways that I work and earn money online. But I found a link to another person's blog where he blogs about how other people are making their money online as well. You'll see some great examples of how people are making money online simply by taking an idea and going with it! "What Are You Going To Do With Your Tax Refund?"

Someone asked this question on Twitter and I decided to answer it too.

Since I am self-employed I have to pay a self-employment tax so that means that I really don't get a tax refund. )-:

The money that I earn from my grant research, my Google Adsense income and my ebooklets all have to be reported and I have to pay a tax on that income. Since it isn't automatically take out I have to take it out and account for it myself.

This may seem like one of the more bad aspects of working for one's self but it is something that I would still rather do than to work for someone else!



It also makes filling out my tax forms a little bit more complicated because there is more than just the simple 1040 form that I have to fill out. But I'm happy to say that I am almost finished with filing my tax returns. I have already sent in 2 of the 3 that need to be done and the third on I just have to stick the forms in an envelope and mail them before the 15th! So I'm almost done!

Grants For Starting A Sewing Business?

Here is a reply that I gave to a woman who sent me a message about how she wanted to start a business of her own and was looking for grant programs to help her.

"First of all have you ever heard of "starting" small and allowing your business to grow? Countless times I have blogged about grant programs out there to help people start their own business. I don't know the specifics of your bi-laws and I don't know about the specifics of any bi-laws (if any) at the place that you are moving to and I say that because there may still be a way for you to start your sewing business small from your home while you allow it to grow. What about taking advantage of the fact that you have online access and start a website / blog of your own discussing your business? Get google adsense ads and earn money from that as well.

Unfortunately I am seeing this all the time! People say what they don't have but don't realize what they DO have!

If you are really serious about wanting to start your own business then you are going to have to get serious about finding the information about the grants that you may be eligible to apply for. If you do not want to pay companies / programs to find the grant programs for you I can't understand why you just don't go online and start doing the research for yourself?

How To Make Money From Home Using Adsense?

If you want to know how to make money from home using Google's Adsense program here is a simple explanation:

First you have to have a website or blog and you have to make sure that your sites will be able to have the Google Adsense ads on them. Not ALL hosting sites let you to be able to add Adsense ads to them!

One you have your website or blog you can then submit it to Google's Adsense program. They will need to know this information because they will first have to review and approve your site before you can be accepted into the Adsense program.

Once your site has been approved you will then go through the steps of deciding the style and look of your Adsense ads. You don't get to choose which advertisers appear on your site because that will be determined by the content (wording) on your site.

How To Make Money Using The Google Adsense Program:

The adsense revenue that you earn will depend on a number of things. The more traffic you have to your site the more potential ad clicks that you will get.

Another tactic is to use high-paying keywords. These are words or phrases that advertisers pay more money to advertise for. (You can order my list of high-paying keywords by going to my The Adsense Consultant Blog - Part 2.

As an Adsense Consultant I can tell you that there are some different ways that one can use to increase their Adsense revenue or how much Adsense earnings one can make. How I Made A Quick $20 Online In A Matter Of Hours!

My main work is that of being an Adsense Consultant plus I have some other titles and services as well!

Just cruising online one day, I decided to try a little experiment just to see if I could get my hands on some money quickly!

Since I do have a Paypal account that means that any money sent to my Paypal account can be spent almost immediately!

So I did some checking online and found someone who was looking for someone to help crack a computer-graphic-related code! They said that they would deposit $20 in to a person's Paypal account if they were able to crack the code! Since I wasn't familiar with this kind of code I had to do some online checking to find out more about it - but guess what? I was the first person to crack the code and it took the person all of 30 minutes to deposit the money to my Paypal account (and it took me only an hour to spend it right away - LOL!)

If you would like to know the exact details of how I found this person who was offering this free money, then just send a $10 payment to my Paypal address which is:

However I should warn you that even though this worked for me on the first try, subsequent efforts haven't been as successful! But getting that $20 surely did feel good!

Thinking About Selling On Ebay?

Here is some advice that I tried to post on one of the Ebay message boards but it wouldn't go through so I decided to post it here. If you're thinking about selling on Ebay, I hope this advice will help you.

Well its ironic that I saw your post because I do grant research for a living.

There are grant programs for people that want to start their own business and you are at a double plus because you are female.

Like the others have posted it would be a good idea for you to see what kind of benefits, disability and otherwise that you qualify for - the reason being the more benefits you qualify for the more money you will have for your business.

Getting a grant for an online store is not impossible because there have been quite a few grant recipients who have gotten grant monies for online ventures however its the specifics of the kind of online business that you want to start that has to be considered when looking for grant programs to help you start your online business.

You mentioned that you want to sell homemade soaps so you should look into grant programs relating to that such as the fact that you may be using certain ingredients in your soap that there may be a grant program to support that. There are grant programs for research which is something that you may be involved with while making your soaps, perhaps you could tie your soapmaking products with something where there is a grant program for it.

The same thing applies to your mention about adding additional gift basket products. Could they be tied in with a certain customer market like it being a product for disabled persons - something along the lines of that?

It might also behoove you to start a blog and the reason why I say that is because you would be able to put Google's Adsense on that blog and start earning income from that as well.

A "regular" job is a job that you earn money from even if other people don't consider it a "regular" job. I have a Working From Home Blog and you would be amazed at the many and different types of jobs that people have created for themselves!

Looking at your post I see just so many possibilities for you. When you become more familiar with Ebay and have had more experience with it you could start selling for others. As a matter of fact I remember watching a program where a woman with disabilities started selling on Ebay and she became so popular that she started selling for others and even started classes on teaching others with disabilities about how to sell on Ebay.

You have more possibilities and opportunities than you know!

It depends on what you mean by "have a website come off as profitable and stable" - what are you talking about?

Do you want to make a profit from the website for your band? Do you want your site to look professional? Are you talking about selling stuff as far as your band goes? You can show pictures of what your band has to sell, take payments via paypal. You can also add adsense ads to your site as well. You earn money when people click on the ads.

A lot of bands have myspace pages but you can't add adsense ads to myspace pages but you CAN have both a myspace and a regular website.

Your band could also get sponsors and advertisers of their own.

You could also start a podcast/talkshow featuring your band - all for free!

There are a lot of free ways to make your site profitable but you have to do the work and not just build a site and then do nothing else to it.

My Blog - Free Things That I Have Found On The Internet!

Using Your Talent!

Maybe you may find it hard to believe, you may have "talents" that you don't think that you could possibly use to start a business of your own.

Currently I am editing my Frappr site. Frappr is a site where you can create a map of almost anything that you like. My current Frappr map is for where I live - LaMott, Pa!

The map was originally for my LaMott Radio Internet Station but that is temporarily down now. However there is still the LaMott Podcast that I have!

I have a background in radio broadcasting so having both an Internet Radio station AND a podcast is quite fun for me - even though it is a bit of work doing the production for it.

I mention this because it occurred to me that this is a special talent / skill that I have that I can put to good use. And it also occurred to me that since I have a "Working From Home" blog that I should post about it here because this is a skill that you can use to work from home. Not everyone has this specific type of skill but you may have a skill or talent of your own that you can put to good use and make it profitable for yourself!

With both the Internet radio station and the podcast I can generate income from sponsorship and advertisements. I'm also thinking about my local community center where I can post flyers and even a newsletter that I can create relating to both the podcast and the Internet radio station - which would generate more interest and hopefully more revenue!

If you're asking what this may have to do with you it is quite simple! Do you have a talent or skill that you can turn into a profitable business? The answer is probably "Yes" but you may not think that you have any kind of talent or skill that you can turn into a business.

One of the favorite things that I like to mention on my Dream Job Consultation page is the fact that you could even turn something that you hate into a profitable business of your own! My most favorite example of this is the whole subject of washing dishes. Now you may hate washing dishes - but guess what? - you are not alone! What about starting your own "I HATE WASHING DISHES" club?

How would you start it? How about starting with a free blog where you don't have to pay anything to have the blog and you start posting about your experiences relating to washing dishes - which you hate to do? You could add pictures regarding it and continue to post about your experiences. If you promote your blog (or website) you will start to get visitors and hopefully even a few of those visitors will start posting comments to your site. You can mention that you are starting a club about it and hopefully you will get people interested enough to join. You can decide whether or not you want to charge a fee or not - but the main point is to just get started to get started getting more interest to your site.

To start earning money you can add Google's Adsense program to your site so that you can have ads on your site where you earn money when visitors to your site click on the ads.

Promote your site, get more traffic and more visitors and optimize your site for the search engines so that even more people will find it!

The more traffic that you generate the more interesting and appealing you will look to potential advertisers! You may even get advertisers who will want to advertise on your site directly instead of going through a third party and that will mean even MORE money for you!

To start to make even more money start writing reviews of the different products that you use relating to washing the dishes. Companies are always interested in what people think of their products! You may even get comments and suggestions from other consumers who are using the same product and that will even bring more interest - and hopefully more traffic to your site - thus making it more popular!

There are so many additional things that can be added to this!

You could start a podcast of reviews. Just think about it. Listen to a local radio station or tv show and notice the advertising and the kinds of ads that are appearing! That could be YOU if you had your own podcast because it would be like having a show of your own!

Now maybe there is something else that you do or don't like that you could turn into a business - but hopefully you are getting my point here!

If you don't think that you have any special talents or skills just think about what you do in the course of a day! Look around you. Do you collect something, have a special hobby or special interest? You may be able to turn that into a profitable business of your own!

Please think about it and give it some thought!

So many people are being laid off from their jobs and they are having a hard time finding another one. But being able to do something profitable in the meantime can surely do more harm than good!

Work From Home? Are They All Scams?

Of course not!

I work from home and so do many other people!

It's the KIND of work that you are looking for that may be the problem!

I once mentioned about a business that one could start from their home looking at all the sex sites that are online because let's face it - sex sells!

People have come up with all kinds of ways to use the Internet to help make money for them. And just in case you missed the last few times that I have mentioned Google's Adsense program, let me remind you again that this is a program where you add ads to your website or blog and you earn money when visitors to your site click on those ads. I use Adsense and so far I have been getting a monthly payment from them for the past two years! Any income is welcomed! My adsense earnings have allowed for me to pay for some of my Internet access and even some of my regular monthly bills as well and like I posted above ANY income is welcomed!

On the side of this blog I offer an ebooklet listing the names of some companies that are hiring people to work from their homes! These are legitimate companies that are hiring people to work from their homes and there ARE legitimate companies that are hiring people to work from their homes. You just have to be able to know which ones are the RIGHT companies that are hiring people to work from home! Which leads me to a very interesting newstory that I was watching on TV the other day about people who were looking for ways to work from home. They found some online sites where some of them posted their resumes and / or they answered what looked to be legitimate ads looking to hire people to work from home. The problem was that these so-called businesses were sending checks to people and telling them to cash them and send some of the money elsewhere and when people deposited these checks into their bank accounts the checks turned out to be fraudulent and the people ended up having to make those checks good out of their own money!

Unfortunately I can see where people might get taken in for this kind of thing because their need for money is so great! (And what makes the story even more worse is that a lot of these companies turned out to be from Nigeria where a lot of scams are coming from!)

So how does find a legitimate way to work from home? Well if you're looking for a company that you can work from home for you are going to have to do some research! You are going to have to find the legitimate companies that you can work from home for and that is going to require that you do some work to seek them out and find them - But believe me they are out there!

Another solution is for you to work for yourself! What is is that you love to do?

I was watching a very interesting program about people who design wedding dresses and ALL of them loved what they were doing. One woman who started her own design business made $30 Million Dollars last year and when she started she didn't even know how to sew!

This seems to be a re-occuring theme when watching about people who have started their own successful businesses - they love what they do!

So I ask you again - What is it that you love to do?

I have been looking to work from home for a long time. I don't have money to put up front and finding something legitimate seems impossible. There are so many scams out there. Right now I just need to make money but I would eventually like to start my own mommy/twin business. Being a mother of twins childcare is outrageous and returning to the work world is going to cost me more than staying at home making nothing. Any ideas?

Actually from reading your comment I have a few ideas yes!

Well if your first concern is being able to make money now then the best piece of advice that I have posted on my Consultation Page is to find a need and fill it. That simply means that if you can find a pressing need that needs to be filled then you may be able to make money sooner rather than later. What is a pressing need? Since one of your objectives is to stay at home have YOU considered opening up a childcare business? Goodness knows that there are a lot of grant and funding programs out there for child and daycare which I have posted about on both my Grant Basics 101 Blog and my Daycare Grants Related page! And you would be providing a very much needed need!

If this doesn't appeal to you then you might want to try Google's Adsense Program. I have talked about that many times when suggesting legitimate work at home opportunities! With Google's Adsense program you can put ads on your website or blog and you earn money when visitors to your site click on those ads!

This also brings up the related idea of you maybe starting a blog and / or a website that talks about your experiences of being a mother of twins. You can think of it as having your own little newsletter and / or magazine and with that in mind you could solicit (and more better having potential advertisers come to YOU for more direct advertising - which pays much better!

You are right in that a lot of work from home "opportunities" are scams but people are looking for the fastest way to make money and this is not the way - simply because you WILL get scammed!

Are there places where you can work for someone else from your home? The answer is yes but you will have to do some searching to find the legitimate ones. But they are out there! I do in fact know of one program (that I have mentioned many times before) where a company hires those who are disabled and/or those that want to work from home and the people work as customer service representatives! I provide this information to those clients of mine who are looking for legitimate work at home opportunities working for a company.

The problem that I see in those that want to work from home is that it seems that they want to be able to make money right away - like yesterday! This is where fulfilling a need comes in! If you can find a need that has to be filled then you have the potential to earn money sooner rather than later. That is why doing work like child/day care, yard work or even running an errand service have been suggested as good starting businesses for someone that wants to work from home. Another popular business-starting idea is starting a dog-walking business - another need that people seem to need!

As I have always said: the fastest way to make money is to find a need and fulfill it. But the BEST way to make money is to start doing something that you love and turn that into a business!

Your Mommy/twin business sounds like a very good idea to me but like with all new businesses it will take you some time to build it up and build its reputation up! You may want to consider looking into grants to help provide you with some start-up money for your business idea.

I realize that this may be something that you may not want to hear but it really does take time before you start to earn money regardless of whether you want to work for someone else or start your own business. Hopefully I have given you some food for thought to help you decide what you want to do.

Now that I can put this tax year behind me as far as my 2007 income taxes are concerned I have to tell you that one of the benefits of having one's own business is that you are able to deduct a lot of things that are considered business expenses!

Since I have earned money from adsense there are a lot of things that I have been able to deduct as far as my blogs and internet services are concerned.

You can also deduct things such as computer supplies, advertising costs and much, much more!

I do have to say that I hate the "self-employment" tax part of filing my income taxes because any income you make over $400 will have a self-employment tax!

I hate paying money! However I do love MAKING money!

A "Word" About Adsense!

I think that Adsense is a GREAT way to be able to make money online! You put adsense ads on your website and / or blog and when visitors to your site click on the ads YOU earn money!

BUT I should also say that you do have to do some work. I mean you may get lucky and start earning money once your site is up but for a lot others work is going to be required. So many people think that by just putting up a site and adding the adsense ads to it that it will immediately start making money and it doesn't happen that way for a lot of people.

I also want to stress that you don't have to have a "cajillion" visitors to your site to start earning money with adsense. I am a firm believer in "content is king" meaning that its the content on your site (and how you "work" that content) will determine your adsense earnings!

Using my own self as an example, I'm not an Adsense Millionaire yet, but I am certainly aiming for that goal! So far I have managed to get an Adsense payment for the last 12 months and even with the minimum amount of $100 that you need to earn to get an adsense payment the next month - even "THAT" $100 (I have been making more than that) comes in handy!

I'm A Photographer!

Remember when I said that one never knows what kind of hidden talents they might posess? Well I have recently come to find out that I am a photographer! It never really occurred until I was visiting one of my "art" galleries that I have online. (You can find out more about my "art" by going to my The 3D Beginner blog.

I was looking at other people's art galleries and realized that they had included their own photography into their galleries and I thought to myself that 'hey, I have pictures that I have taken too!' and I started adding them to my art galleries as well.

I have taken quite a few pictures of my local area and have added them to my blog. Now some of the pictures look blurry and some of them are not 100% clear but it is still photography. What is also interesting to note is that most of the pictures that I have taken so far have been with my camera phone. (Note to myself - I need a digital camera!).

Now since I have earned an income from my blogs that means that I can deduct the cost of a lot of things (business expenses) as far as my income taxes are concerned. What comes mostly to mind is that I could buy a digital camera and deduct the cost of it on my income taxes.

Now you may ask about how does this relate to working from home and hopefully it would be obvious but just in case it is not...............................

Because I have a website and blog about my local area, I have been getting email from those that have seen them and these pages are started to get a reputation and their popularity is growing. I have gotten email from some of the local businesses and organizations in the area as well. I put up a picture of our local church and got a nice email from a woman who said that she was feeling nostalgic about the area and was searching online and up came the picture that I had posted of the local church. She said looking at that picture brought back a lot of memories......................

You could start your own little newsletter-type thing about your local area as well. It could be a blog or a website (both that you can get for free!) and you could start to put content on it about your local area. Sign up for adsense so that you can have advertising on your site and start to earn an income from the adsense. Once you reach a certain amount in adsense earnings you can declare this as your business and start to be able to deduct business expenses that are related to running it. Invest in a cameraphone and/or digital camera and go around the area and take pictures. Put those pictures on your site. Let your site build up a reputation and as more and more people come to visit your site it will gain an even bigger reputation. You can then solicit the businesses in your area to advertise on your site. You can make good money using adsense but you can make even more money by getting advertisers directly!

I also have a LaMott Radio (Internet) Station and a LaMott podcast (that I'm still working on) as well. The internet radio station has a yearly fee but the podcast hosting is free.

There are just so many possibilities that one can work with when building up a business such as this. But the important thing to remember is that since your income will be had from advertisers that you have to appeal to them in order for them to want to advertise on your site. Then there can be other forms of income coming from it as well. You could even classify yourself as a reporting and report on different events and issure in your area as well.

There are just so many ways that one can go with an idea such as this one!

Give it some real consideration as a possible business for you to start that you can work from home from it.

Podcasting!

Well I am just all over the internet today! I'm visiting blogs and reading newsgroup threads...............posting to my AOL Journal.....and so on................

One of the things that I am currently working on is one of my podcasts for my local area.

This podcast of mine is relatively new and I'm still learning it. However I have some things already included on it so far. I have a public service announcement that I produced about my area's local firehouse. There are also a couple of other public service announcements that I got online and added to my podcast as well. I'm also working on adding music to my podcast but here is where you have to be careful! Unlike Live365 where you can add any music, my podcast's host doesn't allow just any type of music to be added - it has to do with copyright issues. But there is a site where you can download certain music and add it to your podcast.

I'm treating this podcast like my own little radio community talk show! It's like having your own talk show and being the host of your very own talk show!

Just think of the things that YOU could do with your very own talk show! Money and income-wise you could get advertsing and sponsorship for your show and since its YOUR show - you have control over what goes into it!

Now you may be thinking that it might just be too hard to produce and have your own podcast but to that I say just think of the possibilities that you could do!

My podcast (so far) consists of me recording to my computer and simply uploading the file to my podcast host site.

If you have had a chance to listen to podcasts on the Internet then you know that there is a whole lot of possibilites there!

So far hosting my podcast is not costing me a thing - except for my Internet access. And since I'm doing my income taxes now and having to report my Adsense income its also making me think of the possibilities of adding my podcast(s) as part of my self-employment business. When I do so there will be a lot of deductions that I will be able to take as part of this business!

So really think about starting your own podcast!
