"I Have A Blog But How Do I Increase Visitors To My Blog?"

This was a comment that was left on my blog along with a link to the person's blog so that I could see what their blog looked like.

One of the first things that you should do is to install a stats tracker to your blog. This lets you know where your blog traffic is coming from and once you know that then you can work on increasing the number of visitors to your blog.

Also a good portion of this is going to depend on what your blog is about. Who would your blog appeal to most? When you answer that question then you will have the answer to who your target market is. And then you will know who you will have to reach out to in order to increase the number of visitors to your blog.

It is going to require some work on your part but if you're looking to increase the number of people that visit your blog then its time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

I don't think that you should "give up" on a blog just because it hasn't gotten a lot of traffic. Blogs were first started with the blogger in mind meaning that you created a blog for yourself and not for anybody else.

Now with the advent of people being able to make money with their blogs I think that people are putting too much pressure on their blogs.

And one of the most ironic ironies there are is that when you start to do a blog for yourself then the traffic increases - go figure!

Well the first thing to remember is that blog boards should be FUN. Make sure your blog has very good Content. A common problem I'm noticing is that most people starting blogs begin google ads immediately for a couple of dollars and there's nothing wrong with that but just keep the ads to a minimum.. I've seen sites where google ads are 80% of sites content.. Make sure you write relevant post to your topics.. another way to drive traffic to your blog is to visit other blogs and participate on topics and try not to spam their blog with your site...the more you participate the better chance you have to getting more active users.. lets be honest, who wants a blog with 10,000 users if no one participates.. purchase some list building software and begin growing your mailing list as this will also help in growing your blog.. another thing you can do is to raffle off a gift to TOP Commentors. If you raffle a gift please make sure that you actually send gift out and make sure the winner replies with a thank you post...I hope this comment helps out..

I also agree that a blog should be started for fun although I am aware that people may want to start a blog solely on the purpose of that blog making money for them.

I really think that this blog is a good example of this because I initially started this blog because I worked from home myself doing grant research and Dream Job Consultations and people started asking about working from home and how they could be able to it themselves and that is why I decided to start this blog.

Even though there are numerous blogs about this same topic, I still decided to create one of my own. This blog has been around for a while and during its beginnings I didn't see a lot of traffic and also I didn't have any Adsense ads on this blog in the beginning as well. I just really believed in the subject matter and continued to make blog postings.

The Adsense ads came on at a much later date and I added them - quite frankly - to be able to make even more money. But then it occurred to me that since Adsense WAS a way to be able to make money from home then it should also be included as part of this "Working From Home" blog - LOL!

You see, you start a blog because you have a genuine interest in something and then it just spins off into opening new ideas and possibilities and opportunities. So really I don't think that one should "give up" on their blog(s) - especially if they have a genuine interest in what they want to blog about! You NEVER know where your blog is going to take you.

I also like your idea of having a raffle-type give-away in order to generate more traffic to one's blog. But there are so many things that one can do to generate more traffic to their blog - including your excellent suggestion of visiting other blogs and leaving comments - not for the sole purpose of generating traffic to one's own blog but for showing a genuine interest in the other person's blog.

And you are right - it will take time! One's blog has to build a reputation and that takes time.

My bottom-line advice is to start a blog with something that you have a genuine interest in and enjoy the journey along the way. Before you know it you may just hit upon that million dollar idea!
